SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM 1-st ROUND (SGP I)
Small Grants Program Round I - In the project "vocational education and rural development”
Broadening the horizons of access to rural area SGP I positively influenced the living conditions and quality of life, it took intensively part in removing social disparities and guided to youth involvement and helped them to start their own business. This led to entrepreneurship development in rural areas, job creation for young professionals in various fields and started upstream development of rural community in the long term.
SUMMARY:
The Small Grants Program Round I Mission - Recovery of non-agricultural activities in rural areas through micro enterprises.
PGM addressed especially to representatives from local authorities, NGOs, young people who wanted to start a business, craftsmen, educational institutions, etc.., and its aim is to increase their involvement in business and rural community problems.
At the SGP-I in 2008 were funded 20 projects in 17 localities in the 5 recipient districts: Orhei, Telenesti, Singerei, Soldanesti, Rezina, with a total budget of 800 443.38 MDL, for acquisition of furniture, machinery and equipment, accessories, office equipment.
Making an analysis of beneficiaries of SGP I on the districts, it was found out that the most active were those from Telenesti and Orhei districts with 6 implemented projects, Rezina with 4 projects, Soldanesti and Singerei, each with 2 projects.
Of the 20 funded projects, only 6 were aimed at extending existing non-agricultural businesses, expanding the range and quality improvement services; the other 14 are new business for the targeted region or locality, initiated by individuals or institutions who wanted to start a business, thus ensuring jobs for unemployed and young graduates, including both women and men as well.
Qualitative indicators:
• In 2008 SGP-I contributed to improving the business environment and access to expanding the access to the countryside;
• It was developed the network NGO - LPA-Community, as a result it has allowed the removal of social disparities and directed recipients to initiate the activities and opening their own businesses.
Quantitative indicators:
• 20 social service business developed and equipped with machines, computers and furniture;
• 46 people trained during the project implementation and supported in promoting the local entrepreneurship;
• 14 businesses were initiated and developed in eligible communities, the other 6 existing business, offering the 52 new jobs.
