The 5th edition of the Craftsmen's Fair "Treasure"

Sunday, August 15, 2010, in Orhei town over 60 craftsmen were present at the 5th edition of the Craftsmen's Fair "Treasure." The Fair is organized by Orhei District Council and Orhei Town Hall.  The event was opened by the Minister of Culture of Moldova - Boris Focsa, the president of Orhei District- Andrew Global, mayor of Orhei town - Ion Stratulat, chief of Orhei culture department - George Guriuc.

The goal of the Fair is to keep alive the authentic traditional art as an opportunity to assert the values related to Moldovan tradition and cultural heritage.

Dozens of craftsmen came from different regions of Moldova (Orhei, Falesti, Chisinau, Ialoveni, Telenesti, Singerei, Criuleni, Calarasi, Soldanesti etc.) to present their products to Orhei audience, exposing for sale the traditional things, with artistic and utility value as: traditional costumes, clay pots, carved wooden objects, fabrics, rustic ornaments, wicker and osier twigs, icons and paintings, musical instruments, painted eggs, pastries and many other decorative items.

Among the present at this event masters, we can mention: Andrei Tihon (woodworking); Ecaterina Popescu (tissue); Eugen Godoroja (woodworking);  Zoia Burocovschi (crochet);  Nina Craciun (tissue); Violeta and Tatiana Palii (handicraft);  Nicolae Iliev (losier) etc.

Throughout the fair, the visitors had the opportunity to purchase authentic folk art objects.
